Outdoor UK is directly affiliated with the Rescue Emergency Care scheme for First Aid training, allowing us to offer a whole range of first aid courses from 1 Day Appointed persons to 4 Day HSE Approved First Aid at Work.
All of our courses are certificated by the Rescue Emergency Care Scheme (REC) and last for three years before you are required to revalidate your qualification.
Our main focus is on offering extremely practical courses with a large amount of 'hands-on' practice to help reinforce your learning.
Appointed Persons First Aid
A 6 hour, one day course specifically designed for personnel whose work environment allows them the opportunity to call upon more qualified persons, or in an area with access to good communications. This course is ideally suited to school teachers, youth workers and other similar positions.
The objectives for this course are that you should be able to:
-
Safely manage any incident which occurs
-
Be able to deal with serious injuries until someone more qualified arrives
-
Have a working knowledge of what to include in first aid kits
Emergency First Aid
A 2 day course which develops basic skills to deal with both individual and multiple casualty incidents. This course also meets the requirements laid down by most NGB's to keep outdoor qualifications current.
During this course we look at managing an incident in a remote environment where you may have to look after a casualty for some time before the emergency services can reach you. We also explore the use of improvisation techniques, environmental issues, stretchers and other rescue equipment.
The objectives for this course are that you should be able to:
- Safely and effectively manage multiple casualty incidents
-
Stabilise all casualties and monitor their conditions until emergency services arrive
HSE Approved First Aid at Work
A 4 day course following the full HSE first aid at work syllabus. This is the course necessary for you to become the recognised first aider in your workplace.
This course covers all elements of the above programmes and then looks more at specific injuries and hazards of the workplace, the legal requirements placed upon employers and the recording of incidents. There is a formal assessment at the end of this programme.
We also offer a 2 day HSE First Aid at Work refresher course. This is only available to those persons having previously completed the full 4 day course, and whose certificate is not more than 3 years old at the completion of the refresher.
