Changes to Educational Visits DfE advice

Summary

The Department for Education have recently significantly altered the regulations surrounding educational visits management

The Department for Education have significantly altered the regulations surrounding educational visits management in the last couple of years, including confirming that there is no requirement to have an Educational Visits Coordinator in school. Best practice and safety standards, however, still apply, with the onus being placed in sound systems and good risk assessment and trip management.  After publishing revised guidance on offsite visits for schools, this advice has now been superseded by a generic advice document about health and safety in schools published in June 2013 and which can be found on the DfE website under Publications/Departmental Advice.  The HSE have also issued the following short document here. Feel free to contact us for guidance and advice on out this might be applied to your school.
