First Aid Scenario TrainingFirst Aid Scenario Training

Outdoor UK offers a wide range of first aid courses from one-day Emergency First Aid at Work to three-day HSE Approved First Aid at Work.

All of our HSE approved courses are certificated by the Rescue Emergency Care Scheme (REC) for a period of three years.

Our main focus is on offering extremely practical courses with a large amount of 'hands-on' practice to help reinforce your learning. We adapt our delivery to meet your requirements and specific environment. Participants on our training courses have included teaching staff taking groups of children on educational visits abroad, specialist teams in the manufacturing industry and charity workers supporting vulnerable people.

We will deliver training either at your workplace or source a suitable venue, using your natural environment where possible, and making the most of the outdoors for our two-day Emergency First Aid training.

Our experienced trainers all hold relevant training qualifications, and come from various backgrounds, including paramedics and emergency medical technicians and Mountain Rescue team members. They use their years of practical experience to drawn upon to make first aid training fun, safe, challenging and thought-provoking.

Emergency First Aid at Work (one-day course)

A six-hour course specifically designed for those whose work environment allows them the opportunity to call upon more qualified persons, or in an area with access to good communications.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Safely manage any incident which occurs
  • Be able to deal with serious injuries until someone more qualified arrives
  • Have a working knowledge on what to include and how to use first aid kits

Emergency First Aid (two-day course)

This is a two-day course which develops basic skills to deal with both individual and multiple casualty incidents. The curse also meets the requirements laid down by most National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to keep outdoor qualifications current.

During this course, we will training you on how to manage an incident in a remote environment where you may have to look after a casualty for some time before the emergency services can reach you. We also explore the use of improvisation techniques, environmental issues, stretchers and other rescue equipment.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Safely and effectively manage multiple casualty incidents
  • Stabilise all casualties and monitor their conditions until emergency services arrive

HSE First Aid at Work (three-day course or two-day refresher course)

This is the course you need to meet the legal requirements for first aiders in the workplace. The three-day training follows the full HSE First aid at Work syllabus.

This course covers all elements of other First Aid programmes but looks more closely at specific injuries and hazards of the workplace, the legal requirements placed upon employers and the recording of incidents. The programme concludes with a formal assessment.

We also offer a two-day HSE First Aid at Work refresher course. This is only available to those who have previously completed a full First Aid at Work course and whose certificate is no more than three years old at the completion of the refresher.
